Many children and adolescents exhibit mild limitations and aches and pains that may affect their daily life and participation in activities. A variety of issues may contribute to the problem, including long hours in the classroom and at computer, carrying heavy backpacks, high-level sports participation, and stresses of school and activities. These issues can increase their risk for a sedentary lifestyle and musculoskeletal pain later in life. A physical therapist can identify postural alignment problems and muscle imbalances and design an intervention program to address these issues and prevent further issues and injury.
Following an evaluation, we will provide recommendations for physical therapy, if appropriate, and instruct you and your child in activities and changes to make to achieve a higher level of pain-free function. We have achieved success with many young people with our supportive approach and ability to help them see the benefit of changing harmful habits.
